Chris Gay currently works as a Training Coordinator and Firefighter/Paramedic for Fire Department located in East Aurora, Colorado. Chris originally got started with EMS in Minnesota in 2004 working as an EMT. In 2013, he moved to Colorado and began working as a Firefighter. His passion for teaching others grew as the years passed.
Chris holds several certifications in many arenas such as National Registry Paramedic, State of Colorado Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations, Fire Instructor I, Fire Proctor and 1403 Live Fire Instructor, as well as being a NWCG Wildland Engine Boss and Line Paramedic. He is actively pursuing a UAS pilot license and Hazardous Materials Technician certifications.
Outside of the Fire service, Chris has a strong interest in firearm safety and has been a NRA certified firearms instructor for the past 10 years for both civilians and law enforcement alike. Chris’s hobbies include keeping exotic saltwater fish, corals and invertebrates as well as breeding exotic snakes. He spends his free time mining for minerals such as Gold and Aquamarine in different regions of Colorado.
Chris created Colorado Fire College to increase his ability to teach more firefighters throughout the United States, increasing the chances of everyone going home safe. His personal desire to help other public responders acts a driving force to produce this website and podcasts.
Jordan Sherrill currently works as a Colorado State Patrol Hazardous Materials Trooper. Jordan also serves as the Assistant Training Officer for Sable Altura Fire Rescue. Jordan started his career as a Police Officer for the City of Lamar Colorado. He then continued his law enforcement career with the Colorado State Patrol. During this time, he volunteered with the Sable Altura Fire Department. Mr. Sherrill has always had a passion for emergency response in all areas. Since before he turned 21 has pursued his professional development in law enforcement, emergency medical response, firefighting, hazardous materials response, as well as being an avid student of FEMA classes. He went to school for his A.A.S in Criminal Justice as well as his A.A.S in Fire Science.
Over the years, Jordan has earned numerous certificates to include: National Registry EMT, State of Colorado EMT, AHA CPR Instructor, State of Colorado Hazmat Technician, State of Colorado Fire Officer II, State of Colorado Driver/Operator Pumper, State of Colorado Proctor/DO Proctor, State of Colorado Fire Instructor III, S130-190 (Red card), 1403 Live Fire Instructor.
During his time in law enforcement he has his POST certificate as well as been certified as/in a Fire Arms Instructor, Crash Investigator Level IV, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, Marijuana DUI – Investigations, Level I Federal Truck Inspector, Federal General Hazmat Inspector, Federal Cargo Tank Inspector, Federal Other-Bulk Packages Inspector, Field Training Officer, Taser, OC, Radar Operator, Tint Minter User, VIN Inspector, and basic Criminal Interdiction.
Jordan Sherrill is also trained as a Highway Emergency Response Specialist, Tank Car Specialist, Transportation Container Loading and Unloading Emergency Response (TCLUER), Clandestine Laboratory Safety Certification, 240-Sampling, Above the Line Below the Line, Air Monitoring, Hazmat Safety Officer, Crude Oil Class 3 Flammable Liquid Emergencies Transported by Rail (FLE-RR), HazMat IQ, MERRTT - Modular Emergency Response Radiological Transportation Training, PER-230 Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings, 231 Prevention of and Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents, TRANSCAER, and Leadership & Management of Surface Transportation Incidents (LMSTI).
With many years under his belt in public service, he serves as a valued asset to the Colorado Fire College Leadership Team.
